Book Description:
As false accusations of witchcraft consume Salem Village, eighteen-year-old Poppy Seabrooke, a true witch, is content to stay away from the hysteria and more importantly from the relentless advances of Angus Wolfe, a powerful warlock masquerading as Salem’s pastor.

When Poppy uses her magic to help a young boy, she is arrested. Angus is the only person who can help her, but, in return, she must promise her hand in marriage. In desperation, Poppy’s grandmother sends her two hundred years into the future to hide. Poppy finds herself years from home in the middle of a strange place called Montana where rooms light up without candles or sorcery, steam puffing dragons roar across fields on tracks, and cows sprout horns as long as tree trunks. And while Poppy hides from the man who turns her heart cold as ice, she discovers the man who can set it on fire.

Cade Tanner has always lived fast and hard, and he prefers it that way. The last thing he needs is a girl to distract him from running the cattle ranch his father left him. But Poppy, the sweetly innocent beauty with the soft smile and dark eyes, who seemingly fell from the sky, is tough to ignore. But Cade soon finds that falling for Poppy comes with a dangerous price.

Short Excerpt
As I trotted back toward the inner pastures, feminine laughter drifted over the tops of the tall grass. Jackson’s laughter followed, and I trotted River in that direction. Libby’s plan had not been thwarted by my refusal. Jackson leaned his forearm on the pommel of his saddle as he watched Poppy ride circles on our old gelding. I rode up next to him.
Her long hair had escaped the pins holding it, and it shimmered like gold in the sharp afternoon sunlight. Her sweet bottom was still tucked neatly in a pair of my old denims, and it popped up and down on the seat of the saddle in perfect rhythm with her soft cries of joy.
Jackson cupped his hand around his mouth. “Sit back, Poppy. You’re leaning too far forward.” He dropped his hand.
She swept a long strand of hair off her face and sat back.
“Now that is a picture,” Jackson said.
My pulse sped up just watching her trot clumsy circles around the pasture. “What that is, Jacks, is a whole lot of trouble wrapped in the prettiest package I’ve ever seen.”
Jackson’s eyes were wide. “What’s this? Cade Tanner’s confidence finally shattered by a girl? I’ll admit she’s not like any other girl we’ve met, but I’m still surprised.”
It took all my will to look away from her. I reined River around. “Confidence hasn’t got anything to do with it. I just know trouble when I’m looking at it.” River’s hooves plodded over the drought hardened ground. I wasn’t fifty feet from Jackson when Poppy screamed. I spun River around so fast, the horse nearly fell back on its haunches. Poppy had slipped to the side of the saddle but had righted herself just as I reached her.
Her smile greeted me, and it was the kind of smile that could make a guy forget his own name. “Red went one way and I went the other,” she said with a laugh. She reached forward and patted the horse’s thick neck. “He slowed down as soon as he knew I was off balance.” Her cinnamon brown eyes lifted and she looked at me. “Forgive me if I startled you. I shouldn’t have screamed like that.”
“You didn’t startle me.” Of course my heartbeat had a whole different interpretation of it. Jackson rode up next to us. He grinned smugly at me. “Well, Cade, you always were one to ride toward trouble instead of away from it.”

Author Tracy Lane

Hi all!

Please help me welcome Author Tracy Lane to my blog today!

About the Author:
I was fascinated with the paranormal when I was very young. I always felt like someone was around me even when I was alone. It caused me to be inspired to write a paranormal book where a teenager can see and hear ghosts and actually makes friends with one.

I use to love to write short stories in school and always wanted to be a writer. But raising children and working jobs I just could not find the time to indulge my passion. Then my children grew up and I ended up having two teenagers at home who did not need as much attention from me. I started toying with the idea of writing once again. So setting aside 5 to 10 minutes per day to write at least one page I could end up with a book a year. Now Paranormal Properties is published and I have a list of 8 more books to write. I don't think I"ll be slowing down anytime soon.

I don't think I"ll be slowing down anytime soon.

Author Interview:

What is your name? Do you use a pen name (if so, why?)?
My name is Tracy Lane. I do not use a pen name, I want everyone to know who I am.
Tell me a bit about yourself:
I am a single mother who works and writes in her spare time.
What type of genre do you write?
I love Young Adult, fiction and fantasy.
What genre to you personally read?
Fiction is my favorite, I love to escape in worlds I wish existed. Paranormal books are great, magical ones take me away to a place I wish I could stay in.
Tell me about your latest?
It is my first, Paranormal Properties. It is about 14 year old Jake, a skeptic who helps his parents on their ghost hunting show. One day he finds out ghosts are real when he meets Frank Barrone, Dusks oldest ghost.
What sparked your passion for books and the art of a good story?
When I was in elementary school I could not get enough books to read. As soon as I finished one I was looking for the next to take me away. I guess reality did not hold my attention the way books did. Plus I fell in love with the characters. I would daydream I was in the story living it.
Is there a particular book that changed or affected your life in a big way?
I loved A Wrinkle In Time. I remember reading that book a few times. There was something about traveling from world to world with a crazy old lady that intrigued me.  The characters were fun and at times the children seemed so grown up, the way I had always felt.
Is there a message in your book that you want readers to grasp?
Nothing is impossible! Never believe that just because you can’t see it, it doesn’t exist. That’s like saying there is no air because it is invisible to us. Keep your mind open and experience all you can. Life is much sweeter that way don’t you agree?
What challenges have you faced in your writing career?
Writing is the challenge. Ha ha. I tried for 6 years to write this story.  I just didn’t have the self-discipline or confidence to get it written. When I would try I thought I had to sit and write for hours to get at least a chapter down on paper. Then one day I read that if you wanted to write a book to just set aside 5 to 10 minutes a day to write at least one page. Do that every day and you would end up with a book by the end of a year. I thought I had tried everything else, why not try it this way. It actually worked! It did not take me a year but doing the writing in baby steps did not seem as menacing to me as trying to write for hours. And on some days I would get 2 pages done instead of one.
What has been your best moment as a writer?
At first I thought it was when I finished my book and had it edited.  But two weeks later when I had a publishing contract in my hand I knew that moment was the sweetest I had experienced so far.  All the doubt just vanished. I was actually being taken seriously as a writer.
Who is your author idol?
Stephen King. His imagination is unsurpassable by anyone I have read. He pulls me in and makes me want to cry when it ends. If I could write like that I could quit my day job.
Do you see yourself in any of your characters?
Yes in Jake’s mother Stephanie. I put my personality in her. I am fun loving and serious about ghost-hunting. When you read about her, you are reading about me.
Do you feel like your dream has come true or is there much more to do?
The first part of my dream has come true.  I would love to be a full time writer and quit my day job. To tell the truth I was not sure I would get this far. Getting a publisher for Paranormal Properties happened so fast it took me a few weeks to fully process I was getting published.  I had heard it was almost impossible to get a publisher for your first book and if you were lucky enough to get one it could take months of waiting. Neither which happened to me.
What does your workspace look like?
Actually pretty neat. Just my computer, my coffee cup and the flash drive I save it all on. Keeping it clean keeps it easier to focus on writing.
Have you ever had a day when you just wanted to quit?
All the time in the beginning. It was a constant struggle. But the feeling of wanting to be a writer kept me coming back to try time and time again. Persistence finally paid off.
What do you do when you’re not writing?
I am either working or spending time with my kids. There are times I need more hours in the day to accomplish all I need too.
What are the most important attributes to remaining sane as a writer?
I don’t think I am sane. Being a bit insane helps your imagination to kick in and help with the creative process of writing. It brings that pizazz every good story needs.
Did you have a moment when you realized you were meant to be a writer?
Getting a publisher so quickly gave me that AHA moment that this was meant to be, that I hadn’t wasted all those years thinking I could be a writer. I was now actually a published writer.
What advice would you give to aspiring authors?
Do not give up! If you feel it in your soul that this is what you were meant to do, then do it! Find a way that works for you, either type for hours or a bit at a time. Don’t worry what it looks like, if the story is good get someone to edit it for you and clean it up. Everyone has a story in them, get yours out.
After this book, what is next?
I am now working on a Young Adult book called Entwined Courage. It is a mystical story with romance and I am falling in love with the characters. I can’t wait until I finish it and share it with the world.

Book Description:

Jake Weir, while on the set of his parents ghost hunting TV show, agrees to help a ghost investigate a 61 year-old murder.

Jake Weir is not like the other kids in Dusk, North Carolina. Then again, Dusk, North Carolina is not like other cities. Known as one of the most haunted cities in America, behind Salem, Massachusetts and New Orleans, Louisiana, Dusk is ground zero for Jake's ghost hunting parents.

The Weir family has arrived in Dusk eager to scope out some of the town's 127 reported "paranormal properties," which just happens to be the name of their own ghost hunting show: Paranormal Properties. What Jake doesn't know, and what his parents could never imagine, is that Jake can see ghosts! And hear them. And talk back to them! This talent comes in handy when he runs into Dusk's oldest, most famous ghost: one Frank Barrone, a one-time lounge singer made famous by his booze-soaked ballad, "Barroom Eyes."

Frank was gunned down by a local mobster in 1951 and has been searching for his killer ever since. When he learns that Jake can see and hear him, Frank makes young Jake a deal: if Jake will help Frank find his killer, Frank will help his parents find a ghost to film for their upcoming Halloween Special on Public Access Channel #319. Jake enlists the only friend he's made in Dusk, an overweight tomboy nicknamed "Tank," to help him track down Frank's killer. As clues emerge and old leads heat up, Frank and Jake learn they make quite a team. But will Jake find Frank's killer? And will Frank find a real haunted house in time for Halloween?

“Paranormal Properties is a great, family-friendly Young Adult novel about a boy who can talk to ghosts. Equal parts Scooby-Doo, CSI and the Hardy Boys, you will enjoy getting to know Jake, Frank and Tank as much as I did. Now, if only ‘Paranormal Properties’ was a real show I could watch on TV every week…” ~ Rusty Fischer, author of Zombies Don’t Cry

Short Excerpt:

“Silas…”

The voice was eerie, barely above a whisper. Jake paused, his sneaker poised above a grave as he stood in the middle of Dusk Cemetery.

It was nearly midnight and he’d grabbed the wrong flashlight before sneaking out of his bedroom window. It had run out of juice halfway through the graveyard, and he’d been blindly stumbling around ever since.

The moon was full, but it was frequently obscured by heavy cloud cover and he had to wait until another patch moved through to see very well.
He wasn’t scared, so much. Jake had a special relationship with graveyards, and this was far from his first time at the rodeo. Still, it was the first time a headstone had ever talked to him.

The voice grew louder.

“Silas…”

It was a female voice, sounding dark in a way a ghost might: dark and deep and frosty.

He risked another step, letting the moonlight guide his path. It was a big cemetery, and well-maintained as cemeteries go. There were headstones everywhere, some leaning, some taller than Jake.

“Silas…”

Jake turned to the left to follow the sound. It was coming from a massive tombstone two feet taller than he was, and three feet wider. He pointed the flashlight at it, but the beacon was dim, even after he banged it three times on the palm of his hand.

Then, suddenly, it lit, falling upon the dead soul’s name: “Rose Colder.”

It was there on the grave stone, but the flashlight flickered out just before he could read the dates.

“Silas…” came the eerie voice again, so close he could hear the ghost’s lips smacking.

But, wait. Did ghosts really have lips to smack?

Jake parted his own lips and spoke for the first time since walking into the graveyard. “R-R-Rose?”

He hadn’t meant to stutter, but he couldn’t help it. He heard a rasp, or a cough, and then the crunch of dry leaves behind the headstone.

“Silas?” was the reply, and then the rustling of cheap plastic against flesh. The clouds broke, the moon shone down, and a giant, yellow monster reared from behind the headstone, smiling.

Smiling?

“Gotcha!” said the beast, in a boastful, girlish voice. It was a girl, a giant girl, a living girl in a big, yellow raincoat.

“W— who are you?” Jake stammered, trying to hold his ground. He had to look up a good four inches to see her face.

Her eyes glittered beneath her short, greasy hair. She was heavy, but with her big smile and that cheerful way about her, she looked more nice than scary.

“I’m Tank,” she said proudly, inching closer to him with big black and white sneakers crunching over dry, dead leaves. “Who are you?”

“Jake Weir,” he said, relieved he didn’t stammer that time. “And who…who’s Silas?”

“Don’t you know?” she asked, sitting down on one of the large marble slabs that surrounded Rose Colder’s grave. She patted the one next to him, and he sat, too.
He didn’t know why, but even in a graveyard, even after pranking him in her big, yellow raincoat that made her look like a linebacker for an NFL team, this “Tank” girl didn’t scare him.

Much.

“No,” he replied.

Tank frowned. “Rose Colder,” she explained, “snuck out at midnight to meet her boyfriend, Silas Miner, in this very cemetery over a hundred years ago. But Silas’s Dad didn’t approve of his son dating a commoner, so he kept Silas from seeing her and sent a couple of local thugs to teach Rose a lesson. When the thugs showed up, Rose fought back…and lost. They buried her here, and legend has it that every night, at midnight, she rises from her grave to take revenge on the men who ended her life.”

“So…so that’s why you were calling me Silas?”

Tank nodded, and then slugged him on the shoulder. “What are you doing here, anyway?” Jake shrugged. He didn’t really want to tell her.

She pulled a flashlight from her raincoat pocket and flicked it on, right in his eyes. “Hey!” He held up a hand to shield his face.

“Wait, hold up.” Tank pointed the beam up. “What’s that on your hat?”

Jake blushed. He’d grabbed the hat at the last minute, not thinking about it. He had so many of them, and they all looked alike: black ball cap, neon green writing that spelled “Paranormal Properties.”

“You…you work for that TV show? The ghost hunting one?”

“You know about it?” Jake was surprised. They’d just gotten into town, and his parents hadn’t even filmed an episode here yet. That’s what he was doing out in the graveyard at midnight, trying to find something extra special for a new episode.

Of course, they’d kill him if they found out, but he figured it would be worth it if they finally got more than a handful of people to watch.

“Know about it?” Tank shouted. “I watch it every week! You know, the live feed on the web page. We don’t have any local channels that play it.”

Jake beamed in appreciation. “Cool,” he said.

“So,” Tank urged, nudging his knee with her own. He noticed she was wearing plaid pants under her yellow rain coat. “Do you work for it or what?”

“My Mom is the host. My Dad is the cameraman.”

Tank gasped and shoved Jake with each word. “No. Way! Get. Out. Of. Town!”

She stopped shoving him and stood up instead, yanking him by the sleeve of his T-shirt. Dragging him from the cemetery, she said, “I love your Mom. You have to tell me all about her.”

“Where are we going?” he asked, finally regaining use of his feet and catching up to her.

She saw him at her side, looked down and let him go. “There’s a diner around the corner, open all night. I’m buying you a hot fudge sundae and you’re going to tell me all about what it’s like to have famous parents.”
“Famous?” he chuckled as he followed her past the cemetery gate. His Mongoose bike was sitting there, dry and rusty, just where he’d left it.

“Sure thing.” She reached behind some bushes and lifted out a green ten speed with just one hand.

They mounted their bikes and, now that he was looking for it, Jake saw the neon sign for the Dusk Diner just around the corner. Yet, something was still bugging him. “Hey,” he said, “what were you doing in the graveyard at midnight?”

Tank shrugged. “Couldn’t sleep.”

“So you went to a cemetery?”

She  shrugged again, pedaling off. While struggling to catch up, Jake heard her say, “Hey, I met you, didn’t I?”

Author Cindy Paterson & the book Fall!

Hi all!

Please welcome Author  to my blog today! She is having a super blitz day today before her tour kicks off!

About the Author:

I am Xamien’s secret lover. Well, in my head I am and since I’m single this is completely allowed. Some of you may ask, who is Xamien, don’t worry you will meet him soon enough, but no falling in love with him. He is all mine.

Writing books is a fantastic way to have adventures that are impossible to have otherwise. I mean do you really want to fall in love with Waleron? He is so unstable and would never pick up after your dogs or clean the litter box. Not to mention the fact that he is always out killing disgusting grave robbing bug people.

Curling up with a good book and losing yourself to another time and place is the greatest reward. Being able to feel a character’s emotions, their fears, pain and love. Now that is incredible. I relish in the books that stay with me long after they have ended. This is what I strive for in my writing. To give the readers, and myself, an escape into another world, my world.

I have been writing since I was twelve. My parents, sorry mom and dad, would send me to my room for an hour every night to do homework, and instead I wrote stories. Oops, guess that is why I did so bad in math.

I have never stopped writing since then and never will. It’s like an addiction, but a good one. I adore stepping into the shoes of a character and deciding their fate. The characters are why I write. I want to fall in love with them (even the bad ones), so that I care about what happens to them in a story. If I can’t care about the characters then why bother with the story.

I live in Toronto with a menagerie of pets that keep me on my toes.

Prologue
Toronto, Canada 1987

“You bloody well won’t give him up, will you?”
Delara let go of the balcony railing and spun around. The breeze caught the jagged strands of her hair, drifting them across her face. The moment she saw his reddened cheeks and clenched fists, she knew what was to come. Her fingers curled into her bathrobe and she stepped back, but the railing impeded any further escape. “Tarek? What are you—”
“Waleron!” he shouted. Tarek’s attractive face twisted into a distorted monster, smooth pale skin filling with crevices and lips pressed so firmly together that they nearly disappeared. The sound escaping his throat was a mix of a lion’s roar and an eagle screeching in misery as if caught in a trap.
He smashed his fist through the glass French door and blood dripped from the cuts in his skin. He didn’t appear to notice. “He’s dead. Dead, damn it.” The glass crunched beneath his feet as he came towards her. He grabbed her by the shoulders, fingers digging into her flesh. “I’ve done everything for you. Everything!” Tarek shook her so hard her teeth clanked. “Yet, still you love him.”
How could she deny it? She couldn’t. There was no point fighting Tarek when he was like this. She’d learned that long ago.
He shoved a crinkled piece of paper into her face. “Explain this.”
She glanced down at the familiar handwriting and gasped. Oh god, he’d found it. Before he could react, she grabbed the letter from his hand and curled it in her fist, hiding it away from the tainted hand of anyone who dared to read it. But Tarek had. He’d found it within the folds of the pages in her book on her nightstand.
“I always wondered why you opened that same book every single night before you went to sleep. You were reading it.” His voice was garbled with rage and saliva spewed from his mouth. “His words. In our bed.” His bloodied hand slapped across her cheek with such force her head whiplashed backwards. If he hadn’t been holding her shoulder the momentum would’ve sent her over the balcony. “I loved you! I cared for you.”
I will not survive without you. Waleron’s words. Words he’d written to her.
“He never loved you, Delara.” She winced as he shoved her in the chest and the bone in her spine crushed against the metal railing. She hooked her arm in the rails then quickly glanced over her shoulder, looking down the three stories to the pavement below.
“I did.” Tarek said, “It’s me you should love.” He leaned forward and his whisky soaked breath gusted into her face. “I won’t stand for it any longer. I won’t be made a fool of.”
Fear smothered her. His last words were calm, deliberate, and in that instant she knew this would be different from his usual punching bag sessions. “Tarek, please. I know he’s gone. He—”
Tarek grabbed her arm, fingers bruising her flesh as he yanked her towards him. “When you make love to me, do you think of him?”
“No Tarek! It’s not like that.” She tried to pull from his grip, but he raised his elbow and slammed it into her face. Her body flew back and she would’ve fallen over the railing if he hadn’t been holding her.
Her scream of agony was cut off by another blow to the head, this time causing her vision to blur. She coughed and choked as blood streamed from her broken nose. Tears swam with the blood, dripping onto her robe then onto the floor. She had to breathe out of her mouth, short gasps of air mixed with cries of pain.
She tried to keep from passing out by focusing on her training. Remember what Waleron taught you. Years she grappled with him, her vigilant lover making certain she could outmaneuver any species that came at her. What he hadn’t taught her was how to live after he died.
Tarek’s fist made contact with her cheek again, making a resounding smack. She heard the crack of her cheekbone the same time as sharp, jarring pain rushed through her face. “I did everything to make you love me, but still you think of him. Still want him! You fuckin’ ungrateful bitch. He’s dead, damn it. Dead!”
“Please,” she sobbed. “Tarek that’s not true. Don’t do this. Why are you doing this?” But she knew why. Jealousy. Tarek had always been obsessed with her and she would’ve seen it, if she’d cared. That emotion disappeared the day the Lilac killed Waleron. Now, she survived. Breathed. And often used her knife to cut her skin to try to take away the emotional pain.
“If you won’t have me then you will have no one.”
Body broken, spirit eaten away over the last sixty-one years of misery, Delara thought she’d welcome death, but the fear of what Tarek would do to her gnawed into her flesh like termites. “Tarek, please—”
He punched her in the gut and air was forced from her lungs with a whoosh. She bent over in agony holding her stomach. She spit the saliva that tasted like iron from her mouth while she gasped for breath.
Tarek grabbed her arm and jerked. He dragged her through the bedroom to the top of the staircase. Without warning, he pushed her forward with a hard shove to the small of her back. With a choked scream of surprise, she tumbled head first down the flight of stairs to land in a heap on the ceramic tiled floor. Debilitating pain pounded into her back and neck, while her twisted right leg felt as if it had been trampled by a herd of buffalo.
Footsteps thudded down the stairs.
She choked on a cry as she tried to crawl to her feet and get away, but he was already on her. His fist curled into her hair as he pulled her on her back across the floor to the living room. Her scalp screamed and she tried desperately to ease the pain by holding his wrist and pushing with her feet, but one leg refused to function properly.
He lifted her up by the hair, forcing her to stand. A cry wrenched from her throat and she stumbled and nearly fell to the floor. Fresh tears swam in the lids of her eyes.
“Tarek.” Her breaths hitched. She noticed his wavering pupils, the twitching in his cheek—he wasn’t going to stop. He was going to kill her. The crazed look sheathed his usual striking appearance, making him unrecognizable. Whatever she had to do it had to be now, because Tarek was going to make certain she never saw another sunrise.
She averted her eyes and relaxed her limbs, hoping her submission would lower his guard. The moment he loosened his grip she reacted, whirling and slamming her fist that held the note into his broad-width nose. She heard the distinct crunch and his roar of fury at the same time.
She raised her knee as he bent over screaming something about how he’d make her suffer and jerked it into his face. She collapsed to the floor as her bad leg gave out. She crawled a few feet away and used the couch for leverage to pull herself up.
She had no clue why she was fighting when she’d been dead inside for years, but something inside her screamed for her to live. Tarek wouldn’t stop until her last breath this time. This wasn’t about submission or punishment any longer. It was control. Possession. Worst of all it was madness.
Delara limped to the foyer while Tarek yelled incoherently, holding his shirt to his broken nose.
“You bitch!”
She banged into the door and undid the bolt only to yank on it and have nothing happen. She pulled and pulled, using her physical strength and her mind against Tarek’s telekinesis, but he was stronger and there was no way she could win against his power.
She turned, breathing heavily, heart pounding as Tarek approached. Blood smeared across his face and his nose sat at an odd angle. She judged the distance to the bay window in the den and wondered if she could make it before he caught her. Could she jump through the glass? Would it break on impact? Did it matter? If she didn’t get away, he’d make certain she suffered before death.
The crumbled piece of paper still lay protected in her deadlocked fist and she thought of the man who wrote it, of his unyielding courage. Waleron would fight until his heart refused to pump, his limbs refused to function—he’d never give up. He’d do whatever it took to survive.
Her hand tightened on the paper.

Excerpt:
“Eavesdropping?” Before he could defend, or more than likely not bother, she continued, “Why didn’t you say something? You said you’d tell him.”
He raised both hands in the air as if to ward of any further assault. “I did, Kitten. He refused.” The conversation had been simple—Xamien volunteered to stay and help protect Delara and hunt Tarek in order for her to stay here. Waleron’s answer was no and he hung up on him. Xamien seriously was beginning to not like the guy.
Her eyes narrowed. “Well you’re a Taldeburu, Trace to the Realm and tell the Wraiths.”
“A bit dramatic, don’t you think? Besides, it’s his decision,” Xamien replied. “You’re part of his Talde, not mine. I can offer suggestions, but nothing more. Ultimately, you should listen to him.”
“He doesn’t own me.” Her hair was up in a wide clip with a few tendrils wet and hanging down the back of her black V-neck shirt. Her feet were bare and there were still droplets of water clinging to her skin. Sexy. And off limits while he was here.
Waleron did own her in a way. He was her boss and he held her heart, so yeah, whether she wanted to believe it or not Waleron did own her, at least partially. But it wasn’t enough to stop her from sleeping with whoever she chose or from disappearing on occasion.
Xamien casually leaned up against the wall, ankles crossed, arms matching. “We could be spending our time better than this, Kitten. If you come to Spain, I promise to make you scream at least three times a day.”
She huffed, blowing air from her mouth and her jagged strands billowing away from her face. God, he adored the way her upper lip quivered when she was angry. He wondered if she knew she did that. Probably not. He was an observer of people and often noticed the smallest of motions. Even her baby toes failed to touch the ground when she stood, small and delicate keeping the sensitive skin off the cold ceramic tiles.
Finding her irresistible, he pushed away from the wall and approached her, his stance casual to avoid adding to the tension she already held within her muscles. She backed away until her hips hit the narrow hallway table that held a single stainless steel bowl. The jarring tipped over the bowl and it clanged loudly.
“Xamien. Don’t you dare. Not here.”
“I can’t help myself, Kitten.” Before she escaped, which was viable considering the word run pounded in her head, he grabbed her around the waist and dragged her against him. The feel of her body was delectable and it took everything in him to abstain from taking her right there in the foyer. “Damn woman, I can’t be in the same room as you without wanting to fuck you.”
She was tracking scents in the house, her head shifting in each direction while at the same time pushing at his chest. “Seriously Xamien, this isn’t funny. Let me go.”
“A kiss.” No way was he going to survive longer than one more night without taking her to his bed. Without waiting for her reply, he grabbed the back of her head and met her mouth with flurry, tasting the sweetness and spice as his lips roamed over the luscious warmth. There was no urging required, Delara sunk into him within seconds, the desire flooding them as everything around them was forgotten.

Author Becky Pourchot!

Hi all!

Please help me welcome Author Becky Pourchot to my blog today!

Author Bio:

Becky Pourchot is the author of four books, including the popular YA paranormal Hungry Ghost series.
Becky started her journey into the paranormal as a journalist, touring haunted buildings, but has found that the ghosts in her imagination are much more fun than waiting around for the real ones to show up.
Though she calls Madison, Wisconsin home, Becky has spent her last year and a half enjoying the sand and surf in Flagler Beach, Florida, where she now lives with her husband, three kids, and a grouchy parrot named Zoey.
Becky M. Pourchot is the author of two semiautobiographical humor books and the Hungry Ghost
Series, a collection of paranormal books for young adults. She lives in Flagler Beach, Florida with
her husband, fourteen year old son, and six year old twins and completely blames her demanding
writing career for the state of her messy home.

About the Book:
After eating Toaster Strudels for dinner, the house smelled of dirty diapers, and an infestation of moths
descended on the kitchen like a team of unfed sumo wrestlers.  She did what she could, but in her
mind it was never enough.  Rather than crumple under the unreachable demands of her new life
Pourchot began a blog, confessing all of her hilarious shortcomings to Martha Stewart the “Great
Goddess of Domesticity.”
The result became Forgive Me Martha an outrageously funny collection of short stories and poems
full of honesty, humor, and humility, sending hope to those of us who fall short of being perfect.

Here's my review of the book:

Forgive Me Martha is a quick, easy and fun read. So many of the anecdotes in there I could relate to. Others were described so well I could see them in my head. For something that started out as therapy, (Who knew Therapists really could have useful ideas), turned into something amusing and helpful to reflect upon as well as a release for the writer.
How many times do you get obsessed with an iconic figure? Which ones? Well, the Author of this book is obsessed with Martha Stewart and makes no bones about it. In her feeble yet funny attempts at doing things and the hilarious results make for masterful reading. How many times as I read along did I shake my head in accordance with the story, completely being dragged back to the time that happened to me? Obsessing over neighbors, potlucks, crafts, kids, etc. So many relatable stories that made me laugh out loud.
The Author was one, though she really did have a problem at first, turned her situation from a downer to a joyous event. Writing down her mishaps were therapeutic yet provided the levity needed to put things into prospective. I really enjoyed reading this book of short anecdotes. It made me feel enlightened to know I was not the only one with these issues and yet humored at them at the same time. Thanks for being able to laugh at yourself and bringing those around you that read it to laugh as well. Solid A+ from me!-Jodie

Here is your poetry spotlight from Becky M. Pourchot:

Super Plus Sized Crafts
I let my children play with (clean) tampons yesterday.
They love unwrapping the crunchy cover,
ejecting the soft center, and tossing them around,
playing like kittens with an albino mouse.
I realized that applicators are finger size—
perfect for puppets.
We drew faces on them,
put them on our fingers,
and talked in squeaky voices.
Oh Heavily Queen of Good Decorum
I know what I did was wrong.
I promise I will no longer
encourage my children to use
feminine hygiene products
for their creative endeavors.

Another Meal Destined for the Trash
I had all the ingredients
for a spectacular meal:
bourbon chicken with roasted root vegetables.
I was so proud of my plans
I updated my status on Facebook—
“I am making bourbon chicken with roasted root vegetables.”
“Yum!” they all responded.
“Can we come over?” they typed.
I marinated and peeled
chopped and roasted.
Then when I pulled it from the oven,
I could see something was wrong:
the vegetables were black
and the chicken was green,
with a taste reminiscent
of Robitussen Cough and Cold
That night on Facebook I lied,
“My dinner was lovely,”
and I posted a photo of bourbon chicken
pulled from a Food Channel recipe page.
